Devoted to the Essentials

Thursday: Devoted to the Essentials

Reading: Acts 2:42-47

Devotional: The early church provides our blueprint for radical discipleship: devotion to the apostles' teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. These weren't optional activities but essential practices that led to daily conversions and supernatural community. Being devoted to God's Word means reading, studying, meditating, and teaching it to others. Fellowship in the local church provides accountability and encouragement for spiritual maturation. Breaking bread—both in communion and shared meals—keeps us focused on Christ's sacrifice and builds genuine relationships. Prayer connects us to the Father's heart. When believers commit to these four pillars, the Lord adds to their number those being saved.

Reflection: Which of these four areas needs renewed devotion in your life? Choose one practical step to take today.
