The Pierced Hands That Set Us Free

Tuesday: The Pierced Hands That Set Us Free

Reading: Isaiah 53:1-12

Devotional: Centuries before Christ walked to Golgotha, Isaiah prophesied the suffering servant who would bear our griefs and carry our sorrows. Jesus was scourged, mocked, crowned with thorns, and crucified—not because He was forced, but because He chose to. When He cried "It is finished," He declared that the debt of sin was paid in full. God's wrath against sin was satisfied completely. The temple curtain tore from top to bottom, signifying that the barrier between humanity and God was removed forever. You now have direct access to the Father through Christ's sacrifice. His pierced hands opened the way to eternal life and intimate relationship with God.

Reflection: How does understanding the physical and spiritual suffering Jesus endured change how you view your sin?
