sabbath Sunday

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

A call to rest.

While we believe the Lord calls us to work we also believe He calls us to rest.

At Redemption City Church we value rest and family and demonstrate that by taking the 5th Sunday off of any month that has a 5th week, calling it “Sabbath Sunday”

We do this deliberately and intentionally, creating space for families and individuals to rest. The Gospel is counter cultural in its very nature and in a modern day western culture that is all about business Jesus speaks a word to his disciples about rest. Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

The value is that we take some time on these “Sabbath Sunday’s” to be mindful of Jesus’ grace to us through the Gospel. To take some time with our families to reflect on His goodness and kindness towards us and to simply find rest for our souls.
